The 28th Tennessee Women’s Open is back at Stonehenge Golf Course

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Women’s Open is set to tee off on July 15 at Stonehenge Golf Course, with the tournament to last until July 18. In 2025, Jessica Welch was crowned a champion at the same venue, carding a 65-73-71 to win by three strokes. Welch holds the solo record for the lowest Round 1 score on 18 after posting her 65, and shares the record for the lowest score in any round of the competition with Kynadie Adams.

Stonehenge Golf Course is one of five courses in the Fairfield Glade Community Club, set at 6,549 yards and playing as a par-72. As can be inferred from its name, the course has many large rock outcroppings and stone walls, which golfers can see driving up and down the slopes overlooking a nearby lake. The course was designed by architect Joe Lee and carries a slope of 137 and rating of 71.8.

Although Welch won’t be returning to compete for a consecutive championship, three past recipients of the Trophy in Honor of WTGA are returning to Crossville: Michaela Morard (2020), Ashli Bunch (2019) and Kathleen Robinson (2006). The latter will be competing in the Senior Division this time around, but Morard and Bunch will attempt to notch Championship No. 2 for only the second time in tournament history — a feat achieved only by Courtney Wood Chandler after her victories in 2002 and 2005.

Although the 28th Tennessee Women’s Open will be in Crossville for the 18th consecutive year, 2026 marks only the third year of the tournament’s partnership with the Fairfield Glade Community Club; through this agreement, both the Women’s Open and the Senior State Open have the opportunity to play on the iconic Stonehenge Golf Course.

Notable Players:

Michaela Morard (Huntsville, AL): The 2020 Tennessee Women’s Open champion returns to the field after recently undergoing hip surgery. Her return will be one to watch, as Morard not only finished runner-up in last year’s contest but also completed her first season with the Epson Tour in 2025.

Ashli Bunch (Morristown): Ashli Bunch is looking to return to the top of the leaderboard after winning the Women’s Open in 2019. Her last top-10 finish came in 2021, where the former Epson Tour competitor finished tied for 3rd. Bunch currently holds the record for most runner-up finishes in the championship (2014 & 2018), proving her ability to secure a spot on the podium

Isabella Coughlin (Knoxville): Isabella Coughlin returns to Tennessee to compete for the Women’s Open title after competing in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, NC. The Knoxville native earned her exemption with her Tennessee Girls’ Junior Championship victory in Franklin, and will look to continue her strong season in Crossville. Coughlin’s four tournaments and two podium places have her at 6th place on the Tennessee Women’s Player of the Year leaderboard.

Bella Bugg (Thompson’s Station): Bella Bugg heads to Stonehenge Golf Course looking to add a third trophy to her collection. Bugg has won the 2024 Women’s Amateur and the 2022 Women’s Four Ball (with partner Isabella Johnson), and recently made it to the finals of the Women’s Match Play Championship at Temple Hills Country Club earlier this month. She currently sits in second place in the Tennessee Women’s Player of the Year rankings.

Alyssa Montgomery (Knoxville): Alyssa Montgomery is no stranger to a TGA trophy; the Knoxville native won the Tennessee Women’s Amateur in 2021 in her hometown, down the road at Holston Hills Country Club. She’s finished in the top 10 twice in the last five years, notching 2nd in 2021 and 6th in 2022. Montgomery is currently the head women’s golf coach at Carson-Newman University.

Bailey Davis (Knoxville): Bailey won’t be far from her alma mater at Stonehenge Golf Course — the University of Tennessee - Knoxville alumna now resides in the same city as the Volunteers, graduating in 2025. Her senior year, Davis notched three top-10 finishes in a row and led the Lady Vols at the NCAA Championships. She now competes as a professional, and has recently competed in LPGA tour events.

May May McGee (Signal Mountain): May May McGee has been lighting up the course this season, finishing in the top 15 in both TGA events she’s competed in. Her T15 at the Girls’ Junior Championship and her T9 at the Women’s Amateur Championship have propelled her to 6th in the Tennessee Girls’ Junior Player of the Year rankings and 2nd on the Girls’ Team Tennessee leaderboard.

Leslie Cloots (Raleigh, NC): Leslie Cloots returns to the Women’s Open after narrowly missing out on the podium places in 2024, finishing just one stroke behind the three leaders (who would go on to enter a playoff). The Belgium native competed at UNC Chapel Hill from 2013-2016, leading the team in stroke average her senior year at 74.09. Cloots then spent five years on the Epson Tour, and now coaches in Raleigh.
