Three champions were crowned at the Tennessee Women’s Senior and Mid-Amateur Championships at Druid Hills Golf Club, where adversity proved to be one of the biggest tests of the championship. Weather played a significant role in the final round, as a two-hour fog delay pushed back the start
of play. The final round was subsequently shortened to nine holes, bringing the championship to
27 holes total. With tight races at the top of each division, the shortened format added even more
pressure to the final round.
Senior Amateur Championship Flight
Crossville's Leslie Letner claimed the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship after carding a 1-under-par 35 in the final round to finish at 7-over-par 115. Letner secured the victory with back-to-back birdies down the stretch to capture the title. Her first-round playing partner, Helen Holland, finished just one stroke behind Letner to earn runner-up honors. Erica Chappell (Nashville), Rhonda Switzer-Nadasdi (Nashville) and Susan Miller (Loudon) rounded out the top five.
Senior Amateur Flights
The first flight featured a tie at the top, with Dawn McDaniel of Knoxville, competing in her first-ever TGA event, and TGA veteran Karin Rader-Carson of Kingston Springs both finishing at 21-over-par.
The race remained tight throughout the final round, with a three-way tie for third just two strokes behind the leaders. Christina Nelson (Gallatin), Sue Schroer (Loudon) and Elizabeth Lemons (Old Hickory) all finished at 23-over-par. The second flight was equally competitive, with Cyndi Powell of Lenoir City edging out Nashville’s Barbara Coursey by one stroke to claim the title at 29-over-par. Powell’s lone birdie of the final round came on the par-5 No. 2, helping secure the victory.
Super Senior Amateur Flights
The Super Senior Championship flight was controlled by Fairfield Glade native Jean Kraft, who
held a lead of at least three strokes over the rest of the field throughout both days of competition.
Kraft finished at 17-over-par to claim the title. Janice Sauter of Franklin finished runner-up at 20-over-par, while Jill Franks finished third at 27-over-par. In the first flight, another close battle unfolded, with Carol Cade (Franklin) earning the victory at 42-over-par. Cade finished two strokes ahead of fellow Franklin native Gail Smith and four strokes ahead of Teresa Baese (Brentwood).
Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship
In the Mid-Amateur Championship, Jesse Lawley of Maryville (+9) stood firm in the final round, carding two birdies to shoot a 3-over-par 39 in the final round and secure the championship.
Lawley’s aggressive play helped her maintain a four-stroke advantage over Megan Myers of Henderson, who finished runner-up at 13-over-par 121. For full results from the 2026 Tennessee Women’s Senior and Mid-Amateur Championships, click here.
