25th Tennessee Match Play comes to Tennessee Grasslands

The Course:

The 2024 Tennessee Match Play Championship will see the first playing of the event at Tennessee Grasslands Golf & Country Club. The championship will be played on the 7116-yard, par-72 Fairvue course with a rating of 74.1 from the tips. These championship tees have been placed carefully, in order to bring numerous hazards into play. The Fairvue and Foxland Courses were both designed by architect Bill Bergin, who aims to continue to improve the game of golf with each course he designs.

On the Fairvue Course at Tennessee Grasslands, the 9th is one of the most challenging holes on the course. Narrow fairways, trouble on either side, and a green that filters towards the water will make even the top golfer just a bit nervous. To start, everything from the start of the fairway to the back of the green runs towards the water on the left. Golfers can put it towards the right, but bunkers in the landing areas and out of bounds lurk nearby. Even in the fairway, most people will have an uneven lie that will want to move the ball towards the water in the air.

While the majority of the green is relatively flat, the front right corner of it is protected by a bunker and anything missed left could lead to a drop out of the water. Accuracy on hole 9 is at a premium from tee to green.
